Josephine Press is a fully equipped printmaking facility offering custom edition printing, platemaking instruction and workshops for established and emerging artists.

Founded in Santa Monica in 1984, Josephine Press was designed to provide a center where artists can learn and work with various printmaking techniques at a reasonable price. Josephine Press and the affiliated Christopher John Gallery are deeply rooted in the Los Angeles community and committed to making the rich heritage of printmaking tradition available to artists and the public. With the custom designed American French Etching Press and Wright Combination Press, the shop is equipped to work with intaglio, lithography, monotypes, relief printing and non-toxic photo printmaking techniques up to 36” x 54". The staff also works in ‘tradigital” (not Giclee) processes, combining traditional printmaking with digital work.

Christopher John Gallery specializes in contemporary fine art prints and works on paper. With work of over fifty artists in its archives, the gallery offers the collector, art consultant or designer an extensive range of styles and techinques. Nearly half of the Christopher John collection is derived from the works of published artists thrugh Josephine Press. Through Josephine Press we are able to fulfill special orders for commissioned work such as monoprints, etchings and lithographs. With our Epson Stylus Pro 7600 Digital Printer we make high quality art reproductions using Epson archival Ultrachrome inks.
